Before-School Running Program
Sundance Elementary has an awesome before-school fitness program for students and their families called The Mileage Club. We do two 8-week sessions each year, one in the fall and one in the spring. We meet Thursdays and Fridays from 7:30 to 8:00 AM. Start and end dates are listed on the school calendar.
The aim of the Mileage Club is to:
- Motivate youth to become fit.
- Help students gain an appreciation of walking/jogging/running as lifetime exercises.
- Aid students in controlling body weight.
- Serve as an adjunct to school physical education programs.
In a world of constant competition, the Feelin' Good Mileage Club encourages individual performance. Students set personal goals, then strive to achieve those goals. Fulfillment of these goals builds self-esteem and is emotionally rewarding.

If you would like to start a running club on your campus, here are some ideas to get you on your way!
Running Out of Breath
Round and round the endless track--
We run but keep circling back
To where we were once before
I run one lap, then two, three, four.
I'm out of breath but see my smile.
I'm so proud--
I ran a mile!

|EarlyAct™ is a school-wide service club for fourth- and fifth-grade students. It is sponsored by one of the local Rotary clubs in the township in which the school is located. The mission and operation of EarlyAct™ are closely linked to the ideals of Rotary and provide the foundation and natural succession into Interact.
EarlyAct™ provides young students the opportunity for gaining an increased awareness and knowledge of their community and the world. At a young age, all students can easily be encouraged to be caring and helpful. Their minds are open to recognize the dignity and worth of each individual which builds respect for others.
EarlyAct™ also engages students in character-building activities and prepares them for leadership roles to identify and carry out projects which benefit their school, local and global communities.
The Sundance Elementary EarlyAct™ program meets on the first and third Fridays of the month.

Sundance Singers is an after-school music program for students in Kdg-5th grade. Under the direction of three Sundance teachers, students learn new songs and perform them at various community events, including Fall Festival, Breakfast with Santa, Celebrate Reading and the Arts, and our Dr. Seuss Reading Celebration. They meet on Thursdays from 2:45 to 3:15PM. If your student would like to be a Sundance Singer, contact Christina Dickinson by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
